Hope everyone is well...

Just wanted to update everyone to what has been going on currently.  I am still working with IBM as a Senior Virtualization Cloud Architect and Subject Matter Expert in VMware, Citrix and Microsoft practice.  Also, I am working as a Technical Reviewer for a forth coming VMware View 5 book that promises to be an awesome View 5 reference guide for architects.

Recently, I have decided to start posting to my blog daily with news and updates for Virtualization.  Writing and community is important to me in the industry--and my blog will server as my primary outlet.

Of course, you can access my blog through traditional ways, as you do now, but I have also decided to publish it through Amazon Kindle Blogs for person's who prefer their Kindle to read articles (as I do).  You can link to my blog to your Kindle here.

Thanks for following the blog and if you have any topics or ideas--please forward them to me.

Short Notice:  Definately worth checking out--there will be an on-demand replay after the event...

Desktop virtualization is rapidly being adopted as the best way to deliver Windows® desktops to business users because it offers significant benefits, including user flexibility, desktop management cost reduction, and enhanced data security and access control. At the same time, laptops are fast becoming the desktop of choice in corporate environments, and while they meet the need for a great user experience and the ability to work from anywhere, anytime, they also introduce more complexity and greater risk for corporate data loss.

Now, organizations can extend the benefits of desktop virtualization to mobile laptop users for new levels of portability and security. Citrix® XenClient™ delivers the no-compromise control and security that IT demands and the performance and flexibility mobile laptop users expect.

XenClient is a high-performance, bare-metal hypervisor that enables users to run multiple instances of an operating system simultaneously, side by side, and in complete isolation. To ensure the highest levels of performance for the user, XenClient builds on Intel vPro hardware virtualization technology. XenClient leverages capabilities of Intel vPro technology to improve the user experience with their virtualized desktop.

Attend this webinar and learn how XenClient:

  • Extends the benefits of desktop virtualization to mobile users
  • Delivers the security that IT needs with the flexibility that users demand
  • Uses Intel vPro technology to ensure local VMs run at maximum performance

Technology Alert from The Wall Street Journal:

Sony is recalling about 535,000 Vaio laptops world-wide due to a temperature-control defect that may cause excessive heat and distort the shape of the laptop.

The recall affects some F and C Series Vaio laptops sold after January 2010. The company said it will recall 259,000 units in the U.S., 103,000 in Europe, 120,000 in Asia and 52,000 in Japan.

Just read a paper by Steve Jobs titled: "Thoughts on Flash".  This is definately an awesome read and it is very short.  Steve Jobs is defending why Adobe Flash will not be included with iPhones, iPads or iPods.  He has some very good reasons for not including Adobe Flash in these products.  Definately read Steve Jobs post and post your comments here!   Here are some other good informational articles on this topic:

October 22, 2009 is the official release date for Microsoft Windows 7.  I have been using it for about 2 months and have greatly enjoyed the experience.  I will write about the new features in the coming days.

An evaluation 90 day copy of Windows 7 Enterpise is available.

The iPhone FoodScanner

I was surfing the net and came across this application iPhone FoodScanner.  The applications allows you to track your daily nutrition intake.  The cool feature—it allows you to scan the UPC label with an Apple iPhone.  This is just awesome use of technology!  See the video below:
